Sikkim University Details 2016
Sikkim University is a central university entrenched by an Act of Parliament of India. University made by The Sikkim University Act, 2006 (No. 10 of 2007).

It is situated at Gangtok. The university campus is normal to be built at Yangang in South Sikkim district. Campus situated about south Sikkim 56 kilometers (35 mi) far from Gangtok.

The university’s first chancellor was M. S. Swaminathan and first Vice Chancellor was Mahendra P. Lama was the first vice chancellor.

The university action is classical courses in humanities, physical and forestation along with futuristic courses. These courses would be particular and associated to the state including subjects like indigenous history, mountain studies, border studies and bluff music and culture. All the colleges in the state of Sikkim are certified to this university.
